SEO Tip 2: How can PageRank help you get a new Porsche?
This time I will take a look at something useful
- hot to use the PageRankof your website for something else than pumping your web ego in front of forum friends and getting lots of chicks (I am not sure if we are there yet
). In the last two PageRank pieces I did I explained what is PageRank and howdoes getting more backlinks influence your PageRank, now we are moving on.
The FACT - unless you are notorious and mouth to mouth spread internet bussiness the position of your web site in the search engines results is vital to your survival.
What is Search Engine Results Page (SERP) ?
If at this moment I get a crazy idea that I need to buy a new Porsche and I would go in type Porsche dealer in lets say Google I would get the following results. There is a Big Big chance that I will click on the number one page that gets listed and that is http://www.porschedealer.com/ and there is a Big Big chance that I will eventually buy a Porsche from them. Well if I had money to throw around that is. Maybe big buy like a car is even not the best case as we do a little more research before we buy. Bit if your web site is burried somewhere on the page six of Search Engine Results Pageit is the same as if it didn’t exist. Most of the clicks happen on the page one of the results, some even check page to but only weirdos and masochists check out page three and on. Being number one is surviving.
What the hell do I have to do to get to the first page?
Top Search Engine Results Page position has turned into a little science, there is a whole industry of consultants and advisers that try to convince us that this is the case. Anyway, it is not that simple. It might be simple on a small local search engine, but on a global giant like Google with gazillions of pages indexed it’s tuff. Unless you want to score high for some obscure word like like this, that only has 12.800 results (yes, that is only
). So which page gets listed on the top? There is a whole range of parameters that influence Search Engine Results Page position, we will take a look at them at some other time, for now lets just say that PageRank and the number of votes we get (backlinks) are important. A webpage that did better in the internet elections
and had more votes will be listed higher.
What do voters think about me?
We are not done yet. It is not only the number of votes that count but also what pages that voted for us think about our page. What? For instance, these two links point to to the same page but tell us something completely different :) rotten egs rule and people with high IQ. Google and other search engines remember what the vote said and take this into consideration when calculating your Search Engine Results Page position.
Ok, so how to get that Porsche now?
How to monetize your site that has a solid PageRank of lets say 4 or more?
If you paid attention the answer is kind of obvious. You can SELL A LINK from your website to a website of someone that desperately wants your vote and desperately wants your vote to say something nice about him. If you do not want to go to the street and sell your votes
then check out Text Link Ads. Text Link Ads is a marketplace for links. After you register your website you can sell links. You website appears in their directory and when an interested buyer comes along his link appears on your website and you get some $$$.
On the other hand, if you are the one that wants to get votes and higher PageRank you can go to Text Link Ads and buy links (BTW, you even get a 100$ free credit when you register).
Depending on the PageRank of your site and the website theme you can get anywhere from a few bucks for one link to quite a nice sum of money. It might not be enough for a Porsche but it is a nice additional income from your website. Did you ever think that you could make money from selling links? Not me…![]()
If my two dear readers are interested, you can check out how much your vote is worth. Go to TextLinkAds- Make Money - Free Tools - Text Link Ads Calculator and enter your website. There is a flaw in the calc - sometimes it can not tell the difference between a subdomain and a domain, but still it is a nice tool. So go and try to earn some extra bucks
!!
